"SELF FEEDING" UPDATE.

(7 months post op)
After a lot of frustrating months of teaching Cole to "Self Feed", we have succeeded! Well, *one* part of "Self Feeding" anyways. He will finally take the spoon from our hand and put it into his mouth & give the spoon back.
Next on the list:
-Scoop the food up his self.
-Drink out of a cup with assistance.
-Bite pieces of sting cheese off.
(right now, he will only eat bite sized pieces of food)
-Take cereal out of a bag/bowl.
(he hasn't learned that he can take just "one piece",  instead he takes handfuls and can't put it into his mouth which creates  "melt down central",  he punches his head & freaks out!)

These simple tasks that most older babies can do are EXTREMELY hard for Cole.  I can't just hand him a piece of cheese or a cracker and let him feed it to his self, we have to help him eat EVERYTHING.  These tasks would make our lives easier.

Here is a New video of Cole Self feeding:

  1. Hooray for you all! We have been going through the exact same thing with John. After months and months, he can finally feed himself three things: crackers, peanut butter sandwiches, and bananas. It's so liberating! But getting to that point takes so much faith and patience and persistence. You are wonderful parents!
